Sweetgrass Eyecare is Mt. Pleasant's premier state of the art eyecare facility. Established May of 2014, we offer the latest in refractive technology, contact lenses, eyewear, and ocular health detection.

At Sweetgrass Eyecare we strive to deliver the highest quality of vision care, eyewear, and customer service to all our patients. We strive to stay at the forefront of clinical skills and technology in order to help each patient achieve his or her maximum visual potential. It is also our goal to detect any sight threatening disorder as early as possible in the disease process so as to initiate treatment early, maximize visual outcome and maintain vision for a lifetime. Our goal is to engage in the Mount Pleasant community and provide eyecare to its residents throughout all stages of life. Vision for life.

Dr. Emily Curry
Optometrist

Emily Curry Sweetgrass Eyecare Optometrist Dr. Emily Curry graduated magna cum laude in 2003 from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. She then continued on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2007, where she graduated first in her class. While at OSU, she earned the 2007 Beta Sigma Kappa Silver Medal for highest academic performance and the 2007 Vistakon Award of Excellence in Contact Lens Patient Care.

Tate and Belle Curry Upon graduation, Dr. Curry joined TLC Laser Eye Centers as clinical director in Charleston, SC. She then moved into private practice before starting Sweetgrass Eyecare in 2014.

Sweetgrass Eyecare has long been a dream of Dr. Curry's. As a daughter of a veterinarian, Dr. Curry grew up in a small animal practice and has fond memories of watching her dad perform surgeries. Dr. Curry enjoys all aspects of optometry, but especially enjoys refractive surgery and fitting specialty contact lenses. Dr. Curry is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the South Carolina Optometric Association.

Dr. Curry is married to Peter, an electrical engineer and mathematician. They have three children, Tate, Belle, and Bo. She is an avid Detroit Tigers and OSU Buckeye fan, and also loves horseback riding, photography, and cooking healthy meals for her family.

                                           

Our optician Tina Harbit

Tina Harbit optician SweetgrassTina Harbit has over 15 years of optical and eye care experience.  Her optical career began in Greenville, SC in 2000, as an optometric technician. She then did a two year apprenticeship and became nationally certified with the American Board of Opticianry in 2003. She became a licensed optician in South Carolina in 2004, and earned the J. Dan Gosnell award for achieving the highest score on the state boards. Tina moved to Mt. Pleasant in 2005, and has been working in private practice since. She joined Dr. Curry and Sweetgrass Eyecare in 2014.

Tina lives with her husband, Ryan, and three children, Dylan, Ryan, and Brianna. She is very active in the Mount Pleasant and Charleston communities through sports and her family business, Charleston Festival Foods.
